How to use the power converter

This power converter lets you switch between common power units in one place. Choose the unit you are converting from and the unit you want to convert to, enter a non-negative value, and click "Convert" to see the result. A "Swap" button reverses the from and to units so you can check conversions in both directions without retyping. All conversions use the Watt (W) as the base: every unit is defined relative to Watts, so the tool stays consistent and accurate.

Power is the rate at which energy is used or produced—energy per unit time. Power conversion is useful in many situations. Electrical appliances are rated in Watts or kilowatts; cars and motors are often described in horsepower. Heating and cooling capacity is frequently given in BTU per hour. Whether you are comparing a car's engine output in hp and kW, checking an AC unit's BTU/h rating in Watts, or working on a physics problem, having a single tool that handles W, kW, MW, hp, BTU/h, and cal/s saves time and reduces errors.

The converter runs entirely in your browser. There is no sign-up, no download, and no delay. It is designed to be mobile-friendly: the two-column layout stacks on small screens, inputs have a comfortable touch size, and the result appears next to your input so you can compare at a glance. Results are shown with up to six decimal places when needed. This converter uses mechanical horsepower (1 hp ≈ 745.7 W); metric horsepower is slightly different (735.5 W) and is used in some regions.
