About the rounding calculator

This free rounding calculator rounds a number to a chosen number of decimal places (from 0 to 15). You enter the number and the desired decimal places, click Get result, and the tool shows the rounded value and the original number for comparison. Rounding follows the usual rule: if the digit after the cut-off place is 5 or greater, round up; otherwise round down. For example, 3.14159 rounded to 2 decimal places is 3.14, and to 0 decimal places (whole number) is 3. No sign-up is required; the calculator is mobile-friendly and runs in your browser.

Rounding is used everywhere: in money (to 2 decimal places), in measurements (to a practical precision), in statistics and science (to a fixed number of decimal places or significant figures), and in everyday estimates. This calculator uses standard “half up” rounding (0–4 round down, 5–9 round up). If you need rounding to a specific number of significant figures instead of decimal places, use the significant figures calculator. For converting between decimal and scientific notation, the scientific notation calculator is the right tool.

Use this rounding calculator for homework, formatting data, or any time you need a number rounded to a fixed number of decimal places. You can choose 0 (whole numbers), 1, 2 (e.g. currency), or up to 15 decimal places for high precision. The result is shown with the correct number of decimal places, and the original value is displayed so you can verify.

Decimal places are clamped between 0 and 15 so the output stays readable. This page focuses on rounding to decimal places only; for rounding to significant figures or for scientific notation, use the significant figures or scientific notation calculators. The rounding calculator is free, works on phones and tablets, and requires no account.
